Hello

My name is Victoria!

I was so lucky to start piano lessons at the age of five with my great-aunt. She laid the foundation for my lifelong passion for music and performing.

My husband’s story, on the other hand, is one of musical misery. His violin teacher told him ‘You’re a waste of talent!’, just three years into lessons. He never touched a musical instrument again.

Stories like these are heartbreaking. I want my students to love music like I did. As a child, there was not a Christmas that went by without some sort of musical or theatrical performance directed by me.

When I reflect on my school years, I remember participating in every musical, play, choir, orchestra and chamber group I could think of. I completed my AMEB exams in Piano (Grade 8) and Cello (Grade 7) and continued to play whilst completing my Arts/Law degree and then eventually working as a lawyer.

I know from my own experience the joy and deep sense of satisfaction that music can bring. Not only that, but it helped me to build the intrinsic motivation, self-efficacy and resilience needed to excel in other areas of life.

I started to think seriously about teaching music after having my own children and seeing first-hand how excited they were to play with instruments and how they responded as babies when I would play to them. When my son was four, I took him to group piano lessons at Forte School of Music and was impressed with his enjoyment of the class and with his rapid progress, thanks to their multi-sensory and multi-modal approach. The classes were so good that we travelled half-an-hour there and back, every Sunday morning.

It was when I was sitting in my son’s class that I had my ‘Ah-ha!’ moment. If only we had these classes in our area! Fast-forward to three years later, and I have successfully completed my training to become a Forte Accredited Group Piano Teacher, and my Top Music Teacher Certification. I still take private lessons in piano myself, because I believe that the best teacher training is to be a student yourself!

I am passionate about laying the right foundations in music, in a way that’s fun and educational, and building a sense of community in my studio. This is why I am so excited to be offering the Jungle Music, Music is Fun, Junior Keys and Piano Keys programs.
